In Memoriam: Alan Strelzik (1948–2026)

Center for Humanistic Change of New Jersey, Inc. (CHCNJ) mourns the passing of Alan Strelzik, a dedicated and longstanding member of our Board of Trustees. Alan served with distinction for over 30 years, providing steady leadership, compassionate insight, and thoughtful guidance throughout more than three decades of service.

Born on September 14, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Old Bridge, New Jersey, Alan passed away surrounded by his family on June 10, 2026, at the age of 77. A graduate of Miami University and Rutgers School of Law, he built a respected career as a family law and matrimonial attorney, practicing in New Jersey for decades. His professional life reflected a deep commitment to helping others navigate significant personal challenges.

Alan brought these same qualities to his service on the CHCNJ Board. He served as President and, most recently, as Secretary, offering a calm and measured presence in every discussion. Colleagues remember him as smart, kind, respectful, quiet-spoken, and genuinely curious—a compassionate voice who consistently prioritized the well-being of the individuals and families served by our organization. His contributions helped shape CHCNJ’s mission to support adults with developmental disabilities across Sussex, Morris, Warren, and Passaic counties.

Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, Alan enjoyed a rich personal life. He shared 54 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Maureen, with whom he traveled extensively, visiting all seven continents. He was an avid New York Mets fan, enjoyed solving The New York Times crossword puzzles, and found great joy in reading, following current events, and spending time with his family. He is survived by Maureen, daughters Carly Strelzik Wiessmann and Alexis Czeterko, four grandchildren, his sister Stella Feldman, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Alan’s legacy of service, integrity, and quiet strength will continue to inspire the CHCNJ community. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Little Wishes or Alex’s Lemonade Stand, as noted in his obituary.

We extend our deepest condolences to Alan’s family and all who knew and worked with him. His presence on our Board will be greatly missed.
